Adelyn Jane

Adelyn Jane Sutton was welcomed into our crazy world on March 27, 2012 at 3:08am at 6lbs 14oz and 19 in long! She was definitely ready to join our family and took no time at all to let me know! Monday morning (March 26th) I woke up and immediately told Jeff, " I think we might have a baby today, keep your phone with you". I went to work like normal and started telling people that I really felt like she was going to come early, even though I was only 36 weeks, I had the strongest feeling that she was ready! All day I worked as if nothing was different, I did notice I was having some cramping, but nothing to out of the ordinary. Because I had such an easy pregnancy, I never thought much of any little discomfort. I remember leaving work pretty quickly that day, and if I knew I was going to go into labor in a couple of hours, I probably would have prepared my classroom a little more that afternoon. When I got home Jeff was also home pretty early for no particular reason, I remember telling him I was really hungry and we decided to eat dinner around 4:30 that day... weird. I started to feel a little worse throughout the evening, I told him that I wanted to go on a walk with Stewie because I felt like he wouldn't have a chance to have many more walks with just him. We ended up going on a walk around 6:30 and the entire time I kept telling Jeff that something wasn't right because I just continued to feel bad cramps and my back was aching sooo bad! I feel like I have a pretty high pain tolerance, so I almost felt guilty complaining  so much that afternoon. I received a phone call from one of my best friends and I tried to act like nothing was wrong, but something definitely was because as I was talking I was curled up on my bed trying to keep my voice from showing any pain. I also got a call from my sister. She wanted to let me know that she was going out of town in the morning and that I was not allowed to have the baby till the following week. I think that was the first time I admitted to myself that I may actually be in labor. I told her that I wasn't feeling great and it could be possible that I was going to have a baby that night.

7:30 came around and Jeff wanted me to start timing my "contractions". At this point I still thought there was no way I was in labor and that what I was experiencing was contractions. I tried to time them on a handy little app on my phone and when we looked at it after an hour, Jeff said they are about a min long and around 4 min apart, he then forced me to call my doctor. I really wanted to wait till morning because I felt silly bothering my doctor after hours and I DID NOT want to drive all the way to the hospital and then have them send me home! We headed down to the hospital and arrived around 9:30. ( It took me a while to leave the house... I had to shower, make the bed, pick up around the house and say good bye to Stewie) They immediately admitted me and I was 3 to 4 cm and 75% effaced. Even after hearing that I continued to ask " so was it good that I came in?"

It was so surreal, everything happened so quickly and not at all how I thought it was going to go. It was not like the episode of Friends where Rachael delivers or any other movie EVER that had a person going through labor. Within 1 hour of arriving, I was receiving an epidural (THANK GOD) and completely comfortable. Around 11:30 I was 6 cm and my doctor told me to sleep for a couple hours and relax... YEAH RIGHT! There was NO WAY I was going to be able to sleep, I was too excited and anxious! 2am came around and she told me it was time to push! At this point, Jeff was sleeping (surprise surprise) and I looked his way and said "did you hear that?" I asked the doctor if I could wait, because it was happening SO much faster than I could have ever imagined. I thought I would be someone who was in labor for 30+ hours... NOPE! She told me we could start around 2:30am. The next 30 min was the fastest 30 min of my life! All I remember is shaking like crazy and calling my sister telling her and my parents that they better hurry up! 2:30 came, I began pushing and 30 min later our precious Adelyn arrived!

I couldn't even begin to tell anyone the feeling I felt when they handed her to me! It was my baby, and she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen! I loved her so much more than I could ever imagine!

Now one thing that I would like everyone who has had a child and did not inform me of was that the delivery is not the hard part of having a baby, it is the recovery, breastfeeding, emotions, ect... that follow not only hours after but days, and I am sure months to follow! Now Adelyn is 3 weeks and I finally feel pretty close to normal, besides the fact that I now have a tiny human being in charge of my life, and I absolutely love it!

Everyday is a new day, she teaches me things every moment! I am now very skillful with only one hand and any fear I ever had of holding an infant is GONE. Some days are easy and she follows a schedule like a champ, those mornings I enjoy the Today Show showered with my coffee and finish breakfast! Some days (today) I have half a face of makeup on, coffee cup sitting under the Keurig for 2 hours, no food, and she has chosen to eat ALL morning long! Either way, I make it through it and I love every second of it!

I want to thank everyone especially our families for all of the love and support! We could not have done this without them! This is only the beginning and I can't wait to see what little Ms. Adelyn has in store for us...

38 weeks!

2 weeks to go!!! WOW! I can hardly wait to see my baby girl!!!!! We are as ready as we are going to be... and the longer she waits the more ridiculous things I find to buy for her. (like baby havaianas flip flops) I am prepared for her to come when she is good and ready! I am finally ready and  prepared to leave work and can't wait to enjoy the long spring/summer with my little family!

I am so happy with her completed nursery! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!!!! I love sitting in her room and looking through her clothes and books! It was a LONG process with A LOT of help (thanks to every ones amazing gifts and especially both mine and Jeff's parents!) I can't wait to see our baby girl in her beautiful room!

Now all we need is Baby!!

37 weeks

Week 37 was a very eventful one! I finished up my spring break preparing for Baby, yard work with ALL of my parents help, SXSW and celebrating good ol' St. Paddy's Day! St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays, and being pregnant was not going to stop me from celebrating with good friends ( Even Stewie was prepared). I have to say this year was most definitely different from past years... We headed home from J. Blacks around 7pm, but I was still able to enjoy some non alcoholic green beer! ( I brought my own food coloring :)

Yard Work

Thanks Mom and Dad!!!

Dear Baby,

I can't even explain how excited your dad and I are to meet you! It may happen anytime now... The doctor told me your estimated weight is already 6lbs and 17oz...pretty crazy considering your parents are not the biggest people on earth! They say you will continue to grow about 1/2lb each week!!! That means you may be one big baby!  However big or small, you will be perfect! You have dropped a little this past week making moving around humorus for onlookers! You have also decided to make sleeping a little more difficult, but I don't mind it! The doc is pretty sure you will choose to come before your due date! I know you will come whenever you are ready! I am pretty sure your dad and I have picked your name, although actually getting him to say "this is it", is a little more difficult than you would think! Your brother Stewart has no idea you are about to enter his life too! I have left some baby things out for him to get use to, but I know he will love and protect you (probably lick you a little too). One thing from your dad.... He is a little worried you may decide to come during the final four... if so, at least let the Tarheels win!

WE LOVE YOU,

Mom and Dad

36 weeks

Weeks are flying by! It is exciting and also a little scary! I think the scariest thing is not knowing when our little darlin is going to make her way into this big world! I am as prepared as I could be... except I need to finish a couple nursery decorations (pics to come), put in car seats, pack for hospital, prepare work for my long term sub, and complete the STAR ALT test with my third grader! It is really sad that I am most stressed about completing a standerdized test before my baby comes! My parents are in town this weekend and I am enjoying my spring break, it couldn't have come at a better time!! I am pretty confident I will finish up all the small things this week, just in time for St. Pattys day Saturday! Even though I will have to pass on the green beer this year, it is still one of my favorite holidays!!

4 weeks left.... I can't wait to meet our baby girl!!!

All things little

I love baby products! There is nothing better than a little tiny pair of baby socks or tiny baby bows and hats! I sure hope my little girl likes sunglasses because her crazy mama is going to force them on her!
Her shoe collection is continuing to grow... 19, sizes 0- 2

We recieved both carseats and I can't wait to put them in!

My new favorite piece of furniture in our home is the baby bouncer!
Her alphabet wall is completed!

33 and 34 weeks!

me and gie at my baby shower

I am very behind on posting on here, I wish I could say it's because I have been so busy finishing everything for our little girl... Nope! Don't get me wrong, we have been doing a lot since we are getting closer and closer to April 6. I feel like once we get one thing accomplished, I think of 10 more things we need to get done NOW!

Last weekend my sister and mom threw an AMAZING baby shower for me! It was so pretty and so nice to be around so many friends and family. We got so many wonderful gifts, Baby Sutton is going to be very spoiled! My best friend from Houston came into town, it was great being able to spend time with her and catch up! I have to say our weekend was a little different than normal, but I showed her that a 8 month preggo can still have fun!

Work is becoming harder and harder, I have NO energy and still am not prepared to leave my classroom for the rest of the year! I am planning on working until I have our little darling, so it is crazy not knowing if she may come early, late or right on time!

I went to my 34 week Dr appt on Friday and she said I am measuring normal and in two weeks I will get an ultrasound to see where baby is positioned and then I will go to the Dr each week until she arrives! She is still moving around a lot, but there is less and less room for her to move, and I'm not quite sure where she thinks shes moving to?

Jeff and I have completed our birthing classes, we now have a breastfeeding class and  baptism class to attend before she arrives in our world! I feel pretty comfortable and prepared as I can be I guess... I know I will be ready whenever she decides to come, I mean 15 year olds do this every day! I am sure I can handle it!

Nursery Updates part 2

Our nursery is really coming together!!! I remember sitting in the once 2nd guest room and freaking out that we had not one baby item in there... that was only back in December! Now, it is filled with clean white furniture, tiny baby clothes hung in the closet and books new and old fill her new Ikea shelves! (Thank God for Ikea). I find myself sitting in her room imagining what it will be like when she is there with me!! The nursery is now my favorite room in our house!! Jeff thinks its hilarious that we have lived in our home 2 1/2 years and her room is the only room that has everything it needs! We still don't even have curtains in our bedroom, but Baby needed brand new Anthropologie curtains asap! I am also THRILLED that we are getting my dream rocking chair in the next couple of weeks! Jeff's parents really wanted to make sure we had a rocker in her nursery, but I never dreamed I would be able to have THE rocker! Thanks Russ and Carolyn! This not only means we have a comfy beautiful rocker for Baby, but that we can put the amazing chair we originally got in OUR bedroom! Who would have thought through all this baby shopping that we would get something for us too!!

Before:
What was once a guest room with a bunch of obvious things we did not need.....

Is now on its way to being A NURSERY!...

32 weeks!

8 weeks to go!! WOW! It is crazy to think that in less than 2 months there will be a little mini me in this world! Watch out, I know that may frighten some people! I am feeling pretty prepared... I mean as much as I can be for having our first baby. The nursery is coming together (see next blog post), her wardrobe is continuoulsy growing, and Jeff and I have started our birthing classes! Jeff is very patient and has not complained once about them, even though they are three hours long for three weeks. He is probably most thrilled that he doesn't have to worry about Valentine's Day because we will be in class till 9pm. How romantic! Just before we started our first class, someone asked me if I was getting nervous for the actual birth part and I realized that I have not even begun to worry because I know everything will be perfect. Well... after our first class and all the great info they share with you I began to a worry a little! There is so much I had not thought about such as... how will I know if I am in labor? Sounds silly, but I have been so excited about preparing for baby that I hadn't thought about the actual delivery! No worries, I am a fast learner!

                                                                    32 weeks!
Sorry for the horrible picture, hair, slippers and outfit! That is what Sunday looks like in my house!

30 & 31 weeks

Not much has changed except for the protruding stomach of mine... I have pretty much given up and realized that this baby girl is going to continue to grow and kick me at all hours of the day and night until she decides to make her appearance to the world! I am getting very anxious, even though I still have 10 weeks left, I can't wait to meet our precious daughter!
                                                            30 weeks... 10 to go!

29 weeks

Friday I was 29 weeks and while I was sitting in the doctors office for a long, cold three hours, I had them schedule our 3D sonogram! It was so amazing! I am very happy that we decided to do it. It was so amazing watching her move around and open and close her mouth and eyes. She was a little stubborn in that she would not move her hand from her face, but she looked so comfy that I didn't care!
I can't even explain how much I already love this little girl!
